REFLECTIVE WRITING

Before:

I have always wanted to join a volunteering programme especially if it is related with kids. I felt so excited when I knew that I will be taking this course for semester 2. This is because I really like to go out and meet new people. At first, I was confused and I did not know what am I supposed to do but after I did some task that has been distributed by my group leader, Adlina and after I went through the workshop, I finally got the idea what it was all about. 

During:

For the first module which is the DNA extraction, I was appointed by Adlina to be the presenter. I was quite nervous because I was afraid I would not be able to deliver the information well. Fortunately, it turned out very well. It was so satisfying when the students understood what you were trying to deliver to them especially when I found out that the students are not from Science stream student. The second module which is DNA Fingerprinting also went well. The students had so much fun doing all the hands on that has been prepared for both modules. The most important thing is that the students actually understand the concept of DNA and the hands on that they did. Quiz session was also one of the most fun session because the students were so excited and eager to answer the questions given to them. They managed to answer all of the questions very well. This shows that the students really understand the overall concept of DNA. It also shows that we managed to fulfilled our objectives. We received a lot of positive feedbacks from the students. Most of them enjoyed and they want us to come to their school more often.

After:

I have learned so many things while carry out this programme. One of the most important thing that I have learned is the importance of having good communication with your groupmates. Communication helps to make the event well organized and run smoothly. I am grateful that I got the chance to conduct the event with my helpful group mates. It was such an amazing experience and I really hope I get to join any other volunteering programme in the future. Thank you to Dr Puah for all the guidance. Dr Puah really helped us a lot for this event.
