REFLECTIVE WRITING

As Dr Puah explained to us which there will be a internal workshop that will be conduct in our second semester, I was surprised and curious about what kind of program we needed to handle. It was a golden opportunity for me to involve in this program as a team since I was able to explore new things and gain experiences that I never had before. On top of that, there will be a session to spend time with secondary school’s students that able to generate memories at the event.
Before we conduct the workshop at the SMK Sri Pantai, we planned to have a trail run internally to determine the effectiveness of progressing this program. Fortunately, our lecturer prepared some of the materials for us to ensured the program run smoothly. We tried to handle those equipment that we will use later in the workshop. Basically, this event composed of some different component to let the participant aware of the aims and purposes of this event. During the trail run, we tried to build a handmade microscope in a pair by following the instruction given. The method of making these foldscope is very simple and able to be follow up shortly.After that, we blew several balloons and stick them together to make the shape of bacteria. Then, there is a session named sneeze zone, we tried to spray water with food colouring to indicate the distance of the airborne can reached. Last but not least, we tested the effectiveness of hand washing too. We use UV light to check whether the hands have been washed appropriately. By the end of the week, unfortunately, we were informed that the workshop was being canceled due to increasing Covid-19 cases. So, there will be a change of the mode of the workshop into digital aspect. Canceling of the physical internal workshop brought disappointment to me since the preparation done before was in vain.
Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the field work has been converted to alternative methods. For example, video preparation, infographic preparation and online survey. We divided the works into groups to ensure the tasks to be completed. As for me, I involved in the online survey that have to prepare several questions that need the respond from the public. Our questions mainly composed of health care aspects. After being granted by our lecturer, we distributed the online survey to the public and get their responds. After that, our team prepared a report for this online survey. Other groups also completed their work on time. For the infographic designed by our team member, I hope that some of the important information about this pandemic Covid-19 can be spread thorough the school community to increase their awareness about this virus. We also made a hand washing video to educate them the proper way of washing hand that able to wash away any virus on our hands.
We hope that this workshop which conducted through online capable of bringing some beneficial information to the public. Especially, able to rise the awareness among school community via blog that we have made. Since there were many Covid-19 cases reported in Malaysia, we hope that the public has gained more information about the virus through our infographic and how to protect ourselves by frequently washing hands through the hand washing video, not just for this period during Covid-19, but for long lasting to evaluate personal hygiene. Last but not least, we expect that these kind of workshop can be organize in the future.
